Projects:

textABaeApp: A simple web app that sends SMS messages using Node.js, Express, and Nexmo SMS API. I also used W3C Web Notifications API for the front-end UI to display the SMS delivery confirmation messages via Socket.io.

Docket: A full stack to-do list web app. This app teaches CRUD and how to connect backend to frontend.

Ancient Beast: Ancient Beast is a turn based strategy indie game project, played online against other people, featuring a wide variety of creatures to acquire and items to equip onto, putting them to use in order to defeat your opponents.

Summary

DJ turned programmer. I’m a non-binary QPOC who has a passion for visually stimulating, lightweight front-end technologies. I help bridge the opportunity gap for underrepresented individuals in the tech industry as an instructor at Hack the Hood.

Employment

Lead Instructor at Hack the Hood Oakland, CA  - May 2018--Present -Promoted from Technical Fellow. -Lead the teaching of basic coding (Javascript), web development, digital marketing and 21st century job skills to youth ages 16-25. -Create events/hackathons for program youth to pair program with engineers in the industry. -Support HTH’s internal evaluation processes including pre/post participant assessments. -Collaborate with the opportunities team (Case Manager and Job Developer) to provide next step opportunities to students and to support volunteers that will lead workshops in the boot camp.
