Code

Inline

Wrap inline snippets of code with `.

For example, <section> should be wrapped as "inline".

For example, `<section>` should be wrapped as "inline".

Basic block

Use "fences" ``` to block in multiple lines of code.

```
Sample text here...
```
Sample text here...

HTML:

<pre>
  <p>Sample text here...</p>
</pre>

Syntax highlighting

To add syntax highlighting, next to the first "fence" in your fenced block add an optional language identifier and syntax highlighting will automatically be applied in the rendered HTML. For example, to apply syntax highlighting to JavaScript code:

``` javascript
grunt.initConfig({
  assemble: {
    options: {
      assets: 'docs/assets',
      data: 'src/data/*.{json,yml}',
      helpers: 'src/custom-helpers.js',
      partials: ['src/partials/**/*.{hbs,md}']
    },
    pages: {
      options: {
        layout: 'default.hbs'
      },
      files: {
        './': ['src/templates/pages/index.hbs']
      }
    }
  }
};
```

Renders to:

grunt.initConfig({
  assemble: {
    options: {
      assets: 'docs/assets',
      data: 'src/data/*.{json,yml}',
      helpers: 'src/custom-helpers.js',
      partials: ['src/partials/**/*.{hbs,md}']
    },
    pages: {
      options: {
        layout: 'default.hbs'
      },
      files: {
        './': ['src/templates/pages/index.hbs']
      }
    }
  }
};

And this complicated HTML:

<div class="highlight"><pre><span class="nx">grunt</span><span class="p">.</span><span class="nx">initConfig</span><span class="p">({</span>
  <span class="nx">assemble</span><span class="o">:</span> <span class="p">{</span>
    <span class="nx">options</span><span class="o">:</span> <span class="p">{</span>
      <span class="nx">assets</span><span class="o">:</span> <span class="s1">'docs/assets'</span><span class="p">,</span>
      <span class="nx">data</span><span class="o">:</span> <span class="s1">'src/data/*.{json,yml}'</span><span class="p">,</span>
      <span class="nx">helpers</span><span class="o">:</span> <span class="s1">'src/custom-helpers.js'</span><span class="p">,</span>
      <span class="nx">partials</span><span class="o">:</span> <span class="p">[</span><span class="s1">'src/partials/**/*.{hbs,md}'</span><span class="p">]</span>
    <span class="p">},</span>
    <span class="nx">pages</span><span class="o">:</span> <span class="p">{</span>
      <span class="nx">options</span><span class="o">:</span> <span class="p">{</span>
        <span class="nx">layout</span><span class="o">:</span> <span class="s1">'default.hbs'</span>
      <span class="p">},</span>
      <span class="nx">files</span><span class="o">:</span> <span class="p">{</span>
        <span class="s1">'./'</span><span class="o">:</span> <span class="p">[</span><span class="s1">'src/templates/pages/index.hbs'</span><span class="p">]</span>
      <span class="p">}</span>
    <span class="p">}</span>
  <span class="p">}</span>
<span class="p">};</span>
</pre></div>

Code

Inline code

To include code (formatted in monospace font), you can either surround inline code with a single backtick (`): some code

`some code`

Indented code

Or indent several lines of code by at least four spaces, as in:

// Some comments
line 1 of code
line 2 of code
line 3 of code

Code "fences"

Or wrap the code with backtick "fences" before and after the code: ```

line 1 of code
line 2 of code
line 3 of code

Code highlighting

GFM, or "GitHub Flavored Markdown" also supports syntax highlighting. To activate it, simply add the file extension of the language you want to use directly after the first "fence": ``` js

assemble: {
  // Files to build into pages
  pages: {
    src:  'templates/pages/*.hbs',
    dest: 'dist/'
  }
}

Tables

Tables are created by adding pipes as dividers between each cell, and by adding a line of dashes (also separated by bars) beneath the header. Note that the pipes do not need to be vertically aligned.

| Option | Description |
| ------ | ----------- |
| data | path to data files to supply the data that will be passed into templates. |
| engine | engine to be used for processing templates. Handlebars is the default. |
| ext | extension to be used for dest files. |

Renders to:

Option Description
data path to data files to supply the data that will be passed into templates.
engine engine to be used for processing templates. Handlebars is the default.
ext extension to be used for dest files.

And this HTML:

<table>
  <tr>
    <th>Option</th>
    <th>Description</th>
  </tr>
  <tr>
    <td>data</td>
    <td>path to data files to supply the data that will be passed into templates.</td>
  </tr>
  <tr>
    <td>engine</td>
    <td>engine to be used for processing templates. Handlebars is the default.</td>
  </tr>
  <tr>
    <td>ext</td>
    <td>extension to be used for dest files.</td>
  </tr>
</table>

Right aligned text

Adding a colon on the right side of the dashes below any heading will right align text for that column.

| Option | Description |
| ------:| -----------:|
| data | path to data files to supply the data that will be passed into templates. |
| engine | engine to be used for processing templates. Handlebars is the default. |
| ext | extension to be used for dest files. |
Option Description
data path to data files to supply the data that will be passed into templates.
engine engine to be used for processing templates. Handlebars is the default.
ext extension to be used for dest files.

Images

Add classes to an element to easily style images in any project.

140x140 140x140 140x140 Heads up! .img-rounded and .img-circle do not work in IE7-8 due to lack of border-radius support.
