What is the value of a checklist?

A checklist helps one organize and execute around their priorities. It can be extended to manage one's tasks in terms of Stephen Covey's matrix of time management of urgency and importance:

  • Quadrant One: Urgent and Important (putting out fires):

    • Crises, pressing problems, deadline driven projects
  • Quadrant Two: Important but Not Urgent (where you want to be most of the time, all the time not really possible):

    • Relationship building, finding new opportunities, long-term planning, preventive activities, personal growth, recreation
