Setting up HTTPS with LetsEncrypt for Redash Docker Deployment

Make sure the domain you picked points at the IP of your Redash server.
Switch to the root user (sudo su).
Create a folder named nginx in /opt/redash.
Create in the nginx folder two additional folders: certs and certs-data.
Create the file /opt/redash/nginx/nginx.conf and place the following in it: (replace example.redashapp.com with your domain name)

Create an SSH key in PEM format

I have not been able to use ssh-keygen -e to reliably generate a private key for SSH in PEM format. This format is sometimes used by commercial products. Instead, I had to convert the key using openssl.

# generate an RSA key of size 2048 bits
ssh-keygen -t rsa -b 2048 -f jabba -C 'ronnie-jabba'

# copy key to 10.1.56.50 and add to authorized_keys

Setup SSH keys for use with GitHub/GitLab/BitBucket etc

Create a new repository, or reuse an existing one.

Generate a new SSH key:

ssh-keygen -t rsa -C "[email protected]"

Copy the contents of the file ~/.ssh/id_rsa.pub to your SSH keys in your GitHub account settings (https://github.com/settings/keys).

How to stream a webcam to a web browser in Ubuntu

Grr this took hours to figure out. I was trying to install MJPG-streamer and running VLC command lines and all this crap but nothing worked.

First install motion:

~> sudo apt-get install motion

Then create a config file:

~> mkdir ~/.motion

~> nano ~/.motion/motion.conf
