Growing up, I enjoying building things with my hands. My mom's bf ran a semi business and I often spent time fixing our family cars and working on the semi with him. I now own a motorcycle and enjoy working on it when I can. I found that building and working with my hands translates over to building software. I use some of the same processes in building apps that I did working with my hands. My last job was working in IT, and although I enjoyed some aspects, I often found the tasks manual, monotonous, and unchallenging. I was also a minority as the only female bodied person on the team. I was drawn to software engineering because I wanted to be able to automate all the manual, tedious tasks I had been assigned and help create software that would do that for other people. I also want to pave the way for other non-traditionally identifying types. I want them to feel like this is a type of role they should actively consider despite societal norms and expectations that might hold them back. My aim is to work at
