When conducting research or requiring information gathering, you MUST:

  1. Use the Perplexity AI tools as your primary research instrument:

    • Utilize ask_perplexity for initial, focused research queries
    • Use chat_perplexity for complex, multi-step information exploration
    • Craft precise, well-structured queries that capture the exact information needed

  2. For each Perplexity AI interaction:

    • Formulate queries that are specific, clear, and unambiguous
    • Break complex research questions into smaller, targeted sub-queries
    • Evaluate and refine queries based on initial results
    • Document the exact queries used, including chat IDs if applicable

  3. Critically assess the information obtained:

    • Cross-reference Perplexity AI results with other sources
    • Note the source of information (Perplexity AI chat/query details)
    • Identify potential biases or limitations in the retrieved information

  4. Maintain comprehensive documentation:

    • Include Perplexity AI interaction details in your source citations
    • Record chat IDs, specific queries, and timestamps
    • Note any follow-up queries or clarifications made during the research process
